I see that this blog is no longer being maintained. If you do ever drop in to check your mail, I would just like to point you to my website about bird names in Oriental languages. I have a page on the birds of Mongolia, with names of species in Mongolian, English, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Kazakh. The address is:
http://www.sibagu.com/mongolia/index.html
I specifically included Kazakh because I think it’s important to list the names used by one of the peoples living in Mongolia, in addition to which Kazakhstan is a close neighbour of Mongolia and has historic connections with the Mongols. I’ve provided glosses for Ch, J, and K, but unfortunately I can’t find any sources that would help me add glosses for Kazakh.
